Although it sounds like an oxymoron, business class deals are just waiting for you to claim them. If you haven’t experienced the comfort of business class, particularly for lengthy flights, you’re missing out.
On average, business class carries a hefty price, though sometimes airlines do run promotions for fifty-percent off business class. These precious deals aren’t easy to find. Call the airline directly and ask about the types of business class deals they are currently offering. Some business class deals are strictly for domestic, and other for international flights, but it’s a great first step in locating those deals.
Plan ahead. If you really want to save money and find great business class deals, start looking six months out. And look on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, around lunch time. A little known fact; if you buy an airline ticket and the price goes down the next day, the airline will (in most cases) refund the difference.
Many sweet business class deals can be found using the go-to travel software by ITA. Matrix lists the cheapest flights, but you need to select ‘business class or higher’ to find the business class deals you’re looking for. (http://matrix.itasoftware.com)
Business class deals you won’t find online are called Ups–Y-ups, K-Ups, and Q-Ups. You’ll have to call the airline directly or an agent to inquire about these special business class deals. Basically, you pay for a coach seat and get an automatic upgrade to business class. There are limitations, so be sure to ask the agent or airline.
If you’re not already using your flyer miles credit card to buy everything–you’re losing those miles. Use that card. If you don’t have one yet, get one.
Finding business class deals isn’t nearly as difficult as finding prince charming, and you’ll fly happily ever after.
