The Sweet Scent of Customer Enhancement
Scents have long been used to lure, conceal and entice, now even the airlines are getting in on the action.
Our sense of smell is one of the most powerful; it can conjure a long lost memory, make us hungry or even relax us.
Last spring, Spain’s Iberia airlines created a custom fragrance they use in their VIP lounges and planes. They claim the blend was created to enhance their brand and their client experience.
Since then, other airlines have incorporated the same technique, hoping to enhance the overall experience, though critics don’t believe a little scent will override small spaces or few amenities.
Iberia’s foray into in-flight smells paved the way for several other airlines, which have slowly been incorporating their own custom fragrances into their service.
On the other hand, Qantas Airways experimented with smells and has opted for the enticing aroma of dinner.
