United Airlines’ New Domestic First Class
Despite turbulence over a lack of leadership following the resignation of former CEO Jeff Smisek, United Airlines is unveiling a sharp new first class cabin for its domestic narrow-body set of aircraft. The designs were created with the British design firm, PriestmanGoode, which is also working with United on a number of other customer experience upgrades.
The designs come with an emphasis on more storage areas and more width in the seating area. Further, United wanted to ensure that the armrests were more comfortable and generous, and that there was a larger tray table for multi-tasking such as eating while watching a movie on a tablet. After two years of design work, the finished product is a sleek, simple, and comfortable first class for domestic air travel.
The new seats were widened to 21.1 inches, the most generous of previous generation first class seats. The tray table comes with a built in device-holder to prop up smartphones and tablets or entertainment purposes. A built-in water bottle holder and extendable cocktail tray in a granite veneer offer sharp sophistication. A articulated comfort-focused seat and six-way adjustable headrest means your domestic first class seat is as comfortable as possible.
