United Plans Major Job Cuts Across US
United Airlines recently announced that they plan to eliminate up to 2,000 jobs around the US.
The jobs include baggage handlers and customer-service agents in 28 small cities across the United States. They plan to hire contractors to replace the fired employees. Last year, United outsourced more than six-hundred jobs from twelve airports across the US.
This comes despite that fact that United Continental Holdings, Inc earned $1.12 billion in the first three quarters of 2014, outperforming their $571 million in 2013.
According to the airline, they want to ensure their prices remain competitive.
